How do you keep up with all the excellent comedy shows in London, I know we find it pretty difficult and this is what we do, you can try subscribing to the various comedy venues but if you want my advice subscribe to us and a couple of the London blogs we mentioned in 2011 (we’ll be doing a new list for 2012 soon) that way you’ll find all the comedy you can handle, much of which isn’t advertised.

For instance I’ve never seen any kind of advertising for the Tattershall Castle, the Laughing Horse or the 99 Club or loads of other great places that have good comedians on at a reasonable price all in London.

Take the Tattershall Castle, this Friday and Saturday show sold out ages ago and why, the regulars know it is a great venue and with a line up of Paul Tonkinson, Doc Brown, Keith Farnan and MC Rob Beckett it is going to be a great show.

If you have never been to the Tattershall go along and you’ll be hooked, go to any of their shows and you’ll have a great night but while there are still tickets available (it said 42 left while writing this) book the show on the 10th February, it has Terry Alderton, Lee Hurst, Andrew Bird and MC Yianni, you’ll have a great time.

For tickets for the comedy show at the Tatershall Castle click here, they cost £13.50 and the show starts at 8pm, you will also see the other shows they have coming up.

Also if you were thinking of buying a Ford Focus ST click Ford Focus ST and if you want to see FREE concerts & films, Click here.

Now Chris P might be able to wax lyrical about the London Ice Sculpture this weekend and it being the best thing to do, but if you’re like me and don’t fancy freezing your butt off with an outside event, even if the weather is supposed to be OK, then head to the London A Cappella festival.

I might be wrong but I’m sure the prices are a bit higher than last year but after the success of last year I’m not at all surprised and to be honest it’s still great value when you hear the quality of the A Cappella groups attending.

If you’ve never been to an A Cappella event this festival will be a real surprise and treat for you because they have some of the best singers performing from today until Saturday, unfortunately many of the headline acts are either sold out or there are no good seats left, but if you’re quick and can get to Kings Place at 7pm on Friday you can still see the excellent group Cadence.

Now rather than me trying to tell you how good they are, have a listen to them on their website, I guarantee before the tracks are finished you’ll have got onto the Kings Place website and booked your tickets, click Cadence and sit back and enjoy, you need to click the skip intro link on the top right of their homepage to get to their tracks.

As for the rest of the festival there are lots of free foyer events on Friday and Saturday throughout the day so if you can’t get tickets I’d still say go down there because Kings Place is a nice venue and to have the singing going on as well it will be really nice.

For more details about the London A Cappella Festival click here.

With so many great comedians about right now, some who are famous and some not known at all, who in their right mind would want to be a comedian, how do you stand out from all the other comedians and get people to see you?

Well Lewis Schaffer has come up with the best way to get noticed and help London comedy lovers at the same time, he doesn’t believe in trying to fleece people with a high entry price, he does the exact opposite and charges nothing, all his shows are free.

Now you might be thinking the reason they’re free is because he’s not any good, but he’s been doing his free shows for years now all over the country and is once again back at the Source Below in Soho and as far as I know he’s not some secret millionaire so he must be good to be able to keep on going.

Also to get praise from Time Out, The Guardian, New York Post and others isn’t easy in the comedy world, but he’s managed it so I’d say go down to the Source Below and give him a try, if you don’t like the show you can just leave but if you do like it, you decide how much you think the night was worth.

For more details click Lewis Schaffer London comedy which will take you to the Source Below website, the next shows are on from the 10th January until the end of January on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and to guarantee admission you can put your name down on a guest list.

Also if you drive in London and want to save money on your car servicing read this Car Servicing guide and if you want to see FREE concerts & films, Click here for more details.

Yes I’m back and here’s a little ditty

But not about Jack & Diane

This is about one of the best venues in London

Where you’ll hear the future Man

–

So much goes on there that you’re never told

Some of the best comedy, Jazz and spoken word

With prices that would make Scrooge blush, they’re so low

Kings Place is the place to go

–

And if your partner isn’t into that

You know what, just ditch the cat

They’re old way before their time

You don’t want to follow them down that line

–

You know you can stay at home every night

But life still goes on out of your sight

You can work late at work that’s your right

But before you know it you’ll have lost the light

Enjoy London is what I say

Start at Kings Place, book your tickets today

–

Kings Place have some very good events coming up this week which you can find if you click Kings Place. For instance they have Impropera again, you can see what Rainbowsurfer said about them here.

But there’s also some very good jazz and be sure to look at details about the A Cappella Festival in January, last year was brilliant.

Also read Rainbowsurfer’s article on avoiding car repairs at rip-off garages and if you want to see FREE concerts & films, Click here.

All year I’ve been saying how good the Scoop at More London is near London Bridge. They have consistently put on some fantastic events and to end the year they’ve come up trumps again.

Some of the plays they’ve shown have been so good, you’d have been happy to pay to see them. And one of the best theatre companies that have performed has been the Pantaloons.

If you didn’t get the chance to see their shows earlier in the year, you’re in luck because they’re performing one more time.

Last year I was soaking up the sun when they did their version of A Christmas Carol, but Norm said it was brilliant and completely different to anything you’d expect.

Well this year they’re back for a repeat performance but this time it’s only for one night, Friday 16th, which is way too short a run.

Again I’m going to miss it as all my Fridays in December have been booked up ages ago and I’m sure it’s the same for a lot of other people.

I think the guys and girls at the Scoop should definitely have put them on for at least 2 nights. Let’s face it if the weather turns nasty, they might not even get on.

This is easily one of the best things to go to in December that’s free and one night’s not enough.

But enough of the moaning. If you’ve got that Friday free, keep it that way, get some friends down and you’ll have a brilliant night out.

The Pantaloons are at the Scoop on Friday 16th December at 6pm and the show is free. Click The Scoop for more details of the play and Pantaloons for details of the theatre company.

Thanks for your time.

The BFI cinema on the Southbank is probably the most overlooked cinema venue in London or the best kept cinema secret depending on your point of view, yes everyone knows about the IMAX especially with the series of all-nighters they’ve been running this year, but the actual BFI cinema rarely gets much publicity.

For instance the Disney at 50 series they’ve been running this year has been a great success which has seen many of the films sold out and I bet the Lion King that’s ending the series on 28 December will also sell out so book now while there are still some good seats left.

So why am I telling you all this now, well they have 2 very good film events that I think some of you would love to know about and most blogs aren’t mentioning and by the time you find out it will be too late, you’ll see what I mean later on.

The first event is the MGM musical series that they’re showing which starts today with the film An American in Paris, most of the top musicals will be shown but unfortunately Singing in the Rain is already all sold out for the 3 days that it’s on, so sorry about not telling you about this event earlier, to see what else there is click BFI MGM musicals.

The other event is a film called, Lost Christmas and is a modern children’s Christmas story set in Manchester starring Eddie Izzard, the film sounds very interesting and a change from the animation you always get at this time of year, the preview is on 11 December and Eddie along with the writer and directors, John Hay and David Logan will be at the preview, if you want to be there book now there are only a few seats left.

There are lots of other films on at the BFI so if you’re looking to do something a bit different definitely have a look at their site, it’s a nice venue and a welcome change from the multiplex cinemas.

There are really too many great events on this month and I know that I’ve missed off loads but I think the ones here are definitely the ones you should try to see and the other guys are sure to pick up on some of the ones I’ve missed off.

I haven’t put them in any order but the big event for the month that everyone will be writing about will be the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at the National Gallery, it starts on the 9th and it’s on until February next year so there’s no rush.

There are however 2 photo exhibitions that hardly anyone will mention that look like they are going to be really good, ones at the Getty Images gallery and is only on until 19 November while the other one is at Somerset House and celebrates 20 years of the magazine Dazed & Confused, that’s on until January next year.

I can’t see any of us writing about the Lord Mayors show because what can you say about it apart from it’s on the 12th, more interesting is the gig that the Red Stripe Band will be doing at St Martin-in-the-Fields on the 16th a definite highlight of the month.

Then you know I like to throw in something a little off the wall well this month it’s an event at the National Geographic store that if you liked the motorcycle trips of Ewan MacGregor and Charley Boorman you’ll find fascinating because it looks like the store are showing one of the Mondon Enduro and Terra Circa motorcycle films on the 29th.

And staying with the motor theme this Saturday you can see the annual Veteran Car show at Regent Street which if the weather holds off should be a nice event and if cars are really your thing then later in the month there’s the Top Gear Live show at the ExCel on the 24th.

If there are any events or things to do in London in November that you think people should know about put them in the comments below and as long as they’re not the usual things everyone is writing about, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Update – See what Chris said about StreetSmart and Rainbowsurfer about Getty Images. Also the World Photography exhibition is very good.
