Catch the Maslenitsa festival this Sunday at Trafalgar Square

Maslenitsa festival

I remember writing about Maslenitsa, the Russian festival a couple of years ago when it was really just this small little festival at Potters Fields Park and I said then all festivals have to start somewhere and sure enough following the success of its move to Trafalgar Square last year, it’s back at the Square again this year and looking bigger and bolder.

I won’t go into who’s performing because to be honest I and I’m sure you won’t know who they are or how good they are, what I will say is that you should go along so that you get a chance to see what Russian culture and fun can be like without the filter of a journalist or news crew because this event is big in Russia and will have a good turn out here.

Considering it’s the end of February the weather is looking OK for Sunday and TFL for once haven’t got most of the network down with only the Central, Northern and Waterloo & City with closures, so try something different in London this weekend but maybe give the borscht a miss at the food stalls.

The Maslenitsa festival is on this Sunday at Trafalgar Square starting at 1.30 – 6.30 and is free click Maslenitsa festival for more details.

Are you going or do you remember the ones at Potters Fields, were they  better then? Leave a comment below if you like.
