Let me ask you a question – Are you a Star Trek fan? I’m not talking about “Oh I liked the first and second films,” I’m talking about you went to all the films, you can quote huge sections of them, you even thought Star Trek 5 was good, a true Star Trek fan.
If you want to know what to do in London this weekend that’s unusual this is it, because starting this Friday the Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square have a Star Trek weekend. They’re showing every one of the films back to back, from the first film, Star Trek the Motion Picture all the way to last years Star Trek.
Not being a Trekkie I don’t think this has ever been done in London before and you’ve got to give the Prince Charles credit for thinking this up and for not trying to rip fans off by charging silly money for tickets.
A single ticket to one film is £6.50 or £4 for members or for a pass so that you can see all of films its just £49 or £35 for members.
I’ve been a life member of the cinema for years now, way before the new life membership was re-started and even though I prefer it how it was before the refurbishment, it’s still a very good cinema to go to.
If you’re a part time fan and can’t remember how good it was to see the early films, especially Star Trek 2, on a big screen, then head to the Prince Charles tomorrow night because they’re showing it at 9.45.
The Star Trek weekend at the Prince Charles cinema starts this Friday at 7pm and ends Sunday night at 8.35 with the screening of last years film Star Trek. If this doesn’t win the competition for the most unusual thing to do this weekend I don’t know what does.
If you are a Trekkie what would you say was the best film of the series, the one you think even non-trekkies should go to see. Let us know in the comments below.
