One of the highlights in September is the Thames Festival
What would you say was the best month to visit London for things to do? June, July maybe August because the weather is so much better then. Or December and January because there’s so much happening and there are the sales.
What if I was to suggest September as being the best month to visit London, think about it and look at the weather we’ve just had this month, August is often a wash out. In fact our monthly London weather forecast shows on average August only has 2mm less rain than in September and it’s not that much warmer.
As for things to do yes there are lots of events in those months, but contrary to belief September has more because a fair number of August events spill over into September.
Here take a look at some of these highlights and let me know if you agree that September is the best time to go to London.
Trafalgar Square is really putting on a show this month, so many events are taking place there that it surely must now be regarded as the official outdoor event venue for London. Look at this line up – Liberty have their annual music and dance festival on the 2nd, there’s the London Design Festival from the 18th – 23rd, a Malaysian Night on the 24th and on the 26th the annual Muslim Eid in the Square festival.
Traffic free days in London are fun and often occur in September
At least a couple of times a year you have the wonderful spectacle of traffic free days along Regent Street and the next one is on the 26th when the Regent Street Festival takes place all day.
If vintage fashion is your thing then heading to Primrose Hill on the 12th would be a good idea for the Vintage Fashion fair.
But if that’s too old for you then you’ll love the Fashion’s Night Out event on the 8th when various shops in the West End will be holding special events, previews, parties and sales.
One of the other big events for the month is the Thames Festival on the 11th and 12th with the fireworks, music and performance acts making this such a great event.
There are so many other events I could mention like the film premieres, the incredible book signings, the free Blues Brothers evening, the free outdoor films, the Liberty Festival but this post is getting long enough so it’s best if you subscribe to the blog at the bottom so you don’t miss any of the events.
September is often like this with some of the best free events on and this is why I think it’s the best time to visit London. But what do you think is there a better month?
