One of the best places to get London theatre tickets
If you’re coming to London chances are you’re going to want to go to one of the various attractions or you’re going to want to see a London show.
However whichever one you do there’s a good chance you’ll pay more than you need to.
I’ve already written about how to get offers on attractions so I thought it might be useful to offer some advice on buying London theatre tickets.
But just trying to write about this and not make it too long or complicated has proved to be almost impossible. Therefore what I’m going to do is give you a couple of tips now and do follow up posts later on. Hopefully it will make it easier to read.
The first thing to note is, if you’re the sort of person who has to see a show in it’s opening week you might want to think again.
I can’t remember which actor it was. But he said going to the first few shows or listening to critics makes little sense.
He said actors get better in a role the more they play it. The performance you see on the first few nights will never be as good as the performances a few weeks later.
The moral, see a better performance by going at least a month later. Plus ticket discounts often kick in by then.
There are of course some exceptions, a big name cast with a limited run will keep prices high from the first night to the last. But even there, if you’re able to go to an afternoon performance the tickets will be cheaper.
Buying theatre tickets on the Internet isn’t always best
Secondly, if you’re not bothered what show you see, doing an Internet search IS NOT your best option.
Instead go to Leicester Square to the tkts booth in the middle and ask for half price tickets to a show. It might seem very old school but if you’ve got the time it works.
You see the problem with using the Internet, is a lot of sites will say tickets up to 50% off or get cheap tickets here.
This is all meaningless. The seats on offer could be awful seats. The so called offer could work out to be as small as 10% off and the time it takes to find all this out is ridiculous. And I’m not even getting into the booking fee.
No, if you’re not bothered what you see and just want a good show, try the tkts booth. Of course if you get our EPok London Pack we always have a 2 for 1 theatre offer to a top London show and there’s no booking fee.
Thanks for your time and other parts such as what to watch out for when buying theatre tickets will follow.
Also so that you don’t miss out on other things to do in London keep reading our blog.
