city of london festival, free events in london

The festival has many free events taking place

This next piece is the hardest I’ve had to write

There’s so much going on I know I won’t get it all right

But if you want something fun and cultural to do

This is the event and activities for you.

Did you know a Square mile of fun is currently on?

There’re bring the square mile to life until July 9th

Street pianos and music everywhere

Concerts in buildings you couldn’t normal get near.

The City of London Festival is where it’s all at

You’ll see and hear lots of Portuguese acts

The celebration is also about 200 years of Chopin

And believe it or not a bees and hives exhibition is in town.

Bess and hives what’s that all about I hear

Well they’re making honey in the city for this biodiversity year.

And don’t ask me what, but there are events around that theme

Honey tasting, music, poetry. It sounds like an Alice in Wonderland dream.

Then there are the street pianos, yes they’re back

Last year was a great success even though some got trashed.

There will be 21 in all dotted around the city

It’s free for you to play them and start a street singing party.

As I said in the beginning there’s so much to do

But whatever happens see the festival procession at St Pauls Cathedral

It’s on this Friday at the Guildhall Yard at 12.45

Finishing at the Cathedral at 1.30 in a Brazilian carnival style.

The City of London Festival is on until the 9th July at various location in the City. Many events are free and in the open air. For details of the free events click Free City of London Festival events.
