You'll need all day to enjoy this Spanish celebration
A friend said to me a while back that he didn’t like London as much anymore because it was like a city of strangers. With all the different languages you hear you don’t know what people are saying.
I said that’s what makes London one of the best cities in the world because you can experience every countries culture and food here.
Was I wrong?
Take this weekend as an example, on Saturday as Norm said you have Thailand at Trafalgar. But then on Sunday you have A Taste of Spain. Two completely different cultures but both accepted and celebrated in London. You don’t find that anywhere else.
In other countries if they put on a celebration for another culture more times than not it’s held in some square or away from the main city area.
But look at the Taste of Spain festival in London and it’s not in some hidden away part of London. No the whole of Regent Street is closed down, shops put on special events and the whole area becomes Spain for the day.
You see what makes London so unique is that everyone is welcomed and rather than it being a city of strangers it is in fact a home away from home.
If you want to try something from a different culture you’ll find it here in London and no one will make you feel awkward or uncomfortable. Everyone who lives here is use to seeing different cultures mixing with each other.
With that in mind give the Taste of Spain festival a go this Sunday. The event as I said is along Regent Street and starts at 12 noon going on until 7pm. But honestly they should have had it go on for longer because there’s just no way you can experience everything on offer.
Spanish markets, dance, music, F1 racing car simulator, there really is so much to try and way too much to mention. Just get yourself down there and enjoy. Here’s the A Taste of Spain official site.
One last thing, Norm said the weather for the weekend was going to be great. But this is London and what a difference a day can make, it’s now not looking as good. Make sure you keep an eye on our London weather forecast before you set out.
Thanks for your time.
