selfridges in london

Selfridges has many unsual things to do in London this April

With so many things to do in London how do you decide which ones to go to? Many websites tell you about things to do in London, but they don’t tell you about the one-off special events that are announced at short notice. Our London blog does.

If you live or work in London I guarantee if you subscribe to our blog you’ll find something interesting to do this month.

If you’re visiting London the things to do that we mention take you beyond the guidebooks. That’s why you won’t see us mentioning events like the Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race.

We tell you about things to do after the sightseeing is over, like what to do in the evenings, comedy clubs worth going to and much more.

To give you a taster here in no particular order are some brief details of things going on this month.

Things to do in London in April

How would you like to meet the cast of the Mighty Boosh? If you’re a fan this is a must see event, imagine it, meeting Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt and the rest. You know they’re going to do something crazy so if you want to be there, diary in April 7th at the Apple store.

From the stats we get every time we write about upcoming film premieres it’s obvious people want to know when film premieres are on and how best to see the stars.

If you’re into that we have a London Film Premiere Guide that gives you some tips and advice on going to a premiere. This month there are five premieres planned with the sequel to Wall Street and Iron Man 2 being the biggest.

We also like to mention events for families and we think one of the best places to go is the Barbican Family Film club. These events get booked up early so take a look at their schedule and if you see something you like book it now because it will get sold out.

One of the things to do that we have seen really take off over the past year, are the Lates at various museums. But don’t be fooled, just because a museum says it has a Late doesn’t mean it’s particularly worth going to.

Each month we write about the ones we think are worth your time. For instance the Late at Tate has been good the last couple of months, but this month it’s not up to scratch and we won’t be covering it.

Real sci-fi fans don’t need to be told about this event, they’ve known about it for ages. But if like me you like a sci-fi every now and then the SCI-FI London Film Festival might be something you want to try. It will be on from the 28th to the 3rd of May.

We also like to cover some unusual events and the Selfridges Ultralounge this month doesn’t disappoint. There’s something to do with girls creating magazines with interactive events and Eighties style makeovers. I don’t know what it means either.

There you have it then a brief look at things to do in London that guidebooks would never tell you about. And if you live or work in London things to do that probably would have passed you by. We’ve seen what’s on in April and it looks like it’s going to be a great month, subscribe so you don’t miss out.

Here are a few more things to do: The Passion in the Square on the 2nd, get a free coffee at Giraffe every Wednesday morning, visit the Roman Amphitheatre before it’s sold out on the 13th, go to Bloomsbury Bowling for something different in the evenings, go to the National Portrait Galley for free Friday evening music, see the Gary Mabbutt book signing on the 8th, see Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant on the 9th at the Apple store, a vintage fashion fair on the 11th, try the real food market at Borrough market on Thursdays, Hollands day out is on the 17th in Trafalgar Square. the Paul Newman season starts at the BFI on the 13th, for a good comedy night go to Just the Tonic on the 16th, try afternoon tea at the Lanesborough hotel, Hollywood through the lens at the Getty Gallery ends on the 28th so hurry, Somerset House has an unusual sound exhibition this month.

Also so that you don’t miss out on other things to do in London keep reading our blog. And try a visit to London Bridge there’s lots to do there that you might not know about.
