Remember the band Toploader? They’re playing live for free at the Apple store

toploader band, live music in london

A proper band playing proper music live

When you listen to the radio in London you could be forgiven for thinking you’re stuck in some sort of Groundhog Day movie.

You hear the same music played over and over again. Which might be bearable if most of the music wasn’t from some pop reality TV show winner or biased towards American artists, but it is.

What makes this whole situation worse is that there are really good UK bands and singers who can’t get any meaningful radio time. It’s as if the music and radio industry have settled on producing more and more bland and not develop anything new and exciting.

It’s because of this lack of imagination by the music industry that when a band like Toploader decide it’s time for them to release new material. They don’t go to HMV or one of the radio stations to do a co –promotion, they go to the Apple store on Regent Street to announce it.

It’s a smart move because they know they’ve been away a long time so by doing a free gig and an up close and personal Q&A, it will create a buzz about them.

If you remember Toploader from back in the day you don’t need me to tell you how special this gig will be. If you’ve never heard them play, but like live original music, do whatever you have to and get to the Apple store to hear a proper band play, proper music.

Toploader will be in London at the Apple store on Regent Street tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd. They will perform live and have a Q&A session and it’s free to attend. The gig starts at 7pm, but obviously you’re going to need to get there much earlier to get in.

Also so that you don’t miss out on other things to do in London keep reading our blog.
