A nice way to relax before the evening starts
Going to listen to live classical music in the early evening in London will seem boring to some but let me ask you, have you ever heard an orchestra play live?
If you think classical music is boring I can bet anything it’s because you’ve never heard it played live, you’ve heard it on TV or on a CD and thought that was it.
You couldn’t be more wrong, the sound of an orchestra at the top of its game will send goosebumps through you. If you’re thinking that’s not possible, think about some of your favourite bands or singers when they play a favourite song, doesn’t that take you somewhere else, it’s the same thing.
I’m not suggesting you go out and spend some big bucks to listen to one of the major orchestras, a 2 hour plus concert would be a bit like throwing you in the deep end.
This is why the Rush Hour concerts by the Southbank Sinfonia are just about right. It’s not a full orchestra but it gives you a taster of the real thing and it’s free to go and only on for about an hour.
The way I see it you can’t go wrong with this, it’s a nice way to relax after a long day and before your night out starts or as a way to miss the rush hour.
The concerts are held every Thursday at 6pm in St John’s Waterloo Church which is roughly 5 minutes walk from Waterloo Station.
So if you want to hear some free live classical music in the early evening in London this has to be worth a visit. Here’s the link to the Southbank Sinfonia site, click free evening in London music to see what they’ve got on.
