I‘ll say it straight off the Tate are proving me wrong and putting on some really interesting Lates on.
However I’ve still got some issues. For instance this month the Late at Tate theme is about Games and it’s going to either be brilliant or a big time let down. I’m hoping it’s going to be brilliant because the ideas behind it are so clever. But here’s the issue, they’re not giving enough info about the event.
For example one part of the evening is dedicated to Xbox and Playstation games, brilliant. But then they don’t say how many games there are, times limits or how many goes you can have.
In other words you’re going to this event, which I know will be packed with proper gamers and you might not get a go.
I don’t want to be waiting around trying to get on or time limited to how long I can play. Next time they’ve got to get their act together and explain these things in advance.
The other game event on the night that sounds like a must is the game by Blast Theory. From the publicity blurb it sound fascinating, but I still don’t quite get it.
It sounds like they have a virtual map of the streets around the Tate and you have a character that’s put on the virtual map which is then chased by real people on the actual street. Apparently you can hear where the chasers are by a live audio stream and can move your character around via a keyboard to escape.
If I’ve got this wrong please let me know because I’ve never heard of anything like this, it’ll be absolutely brilliant if they can pull this off and make it work.
Anyhow the Late at Tate is on this Friday 5th with games starting from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. As always get to the Tate early to get to the room/area where the activity is going to be held so you’re near the front. For room/area details and more info on the event click Late at Tate.
