Get there early if you want your book signed

It’s not very often you get the chance to meet an Academy Award winner who’s English and a very nice person.

Emma Thompson is one of the old school type of actresses who act for the love of the craft and not for the fame.

Yes she’s made some dodgy films in the past, Junior springs to mind, but on the whole no one can disagree about the high quality of her work.

But then a few years ago when you think she’s only a good actress you find she’s also a good writer and comes up with Nanny McPhee.

If you’ve got kids of a certain age I’m sure you went to see the first film and I’m also sure they loved it. If your kids are not to old now the sequel is out later this month and should be just as good

As part of the promo for the film, Emma Thompson will be signing copies of the book of the film at Waterstone’s in Piccadilly, on the 6th.

She’ll be there at 12 noon but there’s still no word as for how long. I can’t see her being there for more than 2 or 3 hours which means it’s going to be very difficult to meet her unless you get there very early.

Waterstone’s at Piccadilly have run many of these high profile signings and it’s well organised. You have to get there early to get access to the queue which is on a first come first served basis. Once there are more than enough people in the queue that’s it. If you’re not in it by then, you’ve missed your chance.

Waterstone’s opens at 9am on Saturdays and I’d say get there before then to see what the queue is like. If you don’t feel like waiting straightaway there are a couple of coffee shops close by but make sure you’re back before the store opens.

Emma Thompson will be signing copies of Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang at Waterstone’s on Saturday 6th in London at the Piccadilly store from 12 noon.
