Does anyone know why Easter is so early this year? I’m just wondering because nobody seems to know.
The reason I’m thinking about Easter is because of the Chocolate Festival that the Southbank Centre are holding this coming weekend.
They held one near Christmas last year which was obviously a great success, not much of surprise considering our obesity problem in this country.
My criticism of the Christmas event was that it was smaller than I anticipated, it ended too soon in the evening and there not were enough late evening events for us Londoners.
It’s all well and good putting on these events which tourists can enjoy during the day, but they’ve got to start realising in London we work longer than anyone else in the country. Finishing at 8pm on a Friday is plain ridiculous.
Looking at the timetable of events planned it looks like it’s going to be exactly the same as the Christmas event. So again if you work in London and want to see any of the demonstrations on Friday you can forget about it as they end at 7pm.
If you’re going for the demonstrations over the weekend, last year they were busy and you had to get there well before the scheduled time to get a good seat/view. Considering the lack of space this meant it got quite cramped so bear that in mind.
There are 35 exhibitors which I’m sure is more than last year so I only hope it’s in a bigger area.
My verdict is if you went last year there’s not much reason to go again but if you’ve never been before, give it a try. Of course if you’re a chocoholic it doesn’t matter what I say you’ll have to go.
The Chocolate Festival Easter event in London at the Southbank Centre starts this Friday at 11am – 8pm and is on the same time on Saturday. The event ends on Sunday at 6pm. More details are at the Easter Chocolate Festaval website.
