I wasn’t going to bother writing about this Hello Kitty event until Chris came up with this statement.
“I can understand why little girls would like the character, but many grown women seem to think nothing of carrying around some Hello Kitty trinkets or something with the logo.”
But like I said to him, it isn’t that different to men buying the football strip of their favourite team and buying anything associated with the team.
He walked away.
But it’s true, if we get into something in a big way, we think nothing of spending a crazy amount of time, money or both on it.
So even though the growth and popularity of Hello Kitty may have slowed down from its heyday there’s still a huge following for anything to do with it.
This is why in Italy the Hello Kitty Musical has just started and is bound to come here and why Selfridges are having a meet Hello Kitty event this Friday and Saturday.
For Selfridges to be devoting so much time and space to this shows how popular the brand still is and they must be expecting the event to be in huge demand.
If you want to take your little ones to the event I’d suggesting getting there for the first session at 12pm. Selfridges before 12 on a Saturday is quite quiet so they should be able to get their photo taken with the Hello Kitty character without much of a wait. Plus there’s face painting afterwards and you know what that can be like when it’s busy.
The Hello Kitty event in London is at Selfridges on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th from 12pm – 5pm.

I am a total Hello Kitty fan and I wish the Hello Kitty Show was coming to the U.S.! @____@
And I completely agree 100% with your statement, “if we get into something in a big way, we think nothing of spending a crazy amount of time, money or both on it.”
Fingers crossed for you guys they may go stateside. No countries or dates have been announced yet so you never know. Thanks for the comment.
