St Martin-in-the-Fields does Salsa
So I’m on the tube zoning out and for some reason I hear this question. What’s so great about living in London?
I can’t see who’s asked the question but that doesn’t matter, it was the answer that I liked.
“It’s the only place in the world that you can do what you want and as long as it doesn’t bother anyone else, no one will bother you.”
Now I don’t know if they read our blog, but that’s what we said here months ago. So what has that got to do with St Martin-in-the-Fields? Well show me another church in England that is brave enough to allow Salsa music on the premises.
You see the people at St Martin’s know London. They know that as far as Londoners are concerned, it’s not bothering me, so you want to do it, go ahead.
Luckily for Londoners and visitors that means one of the hottest Salsa bands, Riamba, is doing an evening concert in the crypt there.
As with a lot of the acts that perform at St Martins’, you’ve never heard of them unless you’re into that type of music. But the quality of the acts that they have is exceptional.
I’ll tell you now you’re not going to find a better Wednesday evening in London for £9. The atmosphere on these nights is friendly and nice and I know on the jazz nights, it’s like you’re somewhere else.
With some events I say if you’re stuck for something to do try this. But with this event I’d say make plans to go because it’s time well spent and enjoyed. The jazz night usually gets sold out and I don’t know how this one will go, but order ASA so you don’t miss out.
The concert is on Wednesday and starts at 8pm but get there for about 6pm so that you can bag a good view and seat. Here’s the St Martin’s link.
Also if you want to do something very different in the evening in London listen to our podcast on Bloomsbury Bowling.
But what do you think, am I going over the top on this or do you know of an equally good Wednesday evening in London?
Also so that you don’t miss out on other things to do in London keep reading our blog.
