Meet the guys who started it
Last time I went to the Ben & Jerry’s shop in Leicester Square I wasn’t impressed.
Service was slow and I didn’t even think the ice cream was as good as it use to be.
I said that’s the last time I’d ever go and I haven’t been back.
But this Thursday 18th I’m seriously thinking of popping by because the word is that Ben & Jerry themselves will actually be down there and giving away free ice cream.
The way I see it is, if the ice cream isn’t good when they’re there it’s never going to be good. Although saying that, seeing as they sold the business I don’t know what sort of clout they would carry to get anything changed.
But the event’s not just about giving away free ice cream and T-shirts there’ll also be music by Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. I’d never heard of the band before but if you go to their MySpace page they sound pretty damn good.
Ben & Jerry’s have done these type of events in the past and obviously they get busy which is why they don’t advertise them much and only have them on for a couple of hours.
If you’re around Leicester Square this Thursday with the kids or you have a couple of hours spare. Even if you don’t feel like free ice cream at least if you go you’ll hear some good music.
However if it’s the ice cream you want, aim to get there at the beginning because there’s no guarantee they’ll have enough to give away for the whole event.
The Ben & Jerry’s London event starts at 10.30am and goes on until 12.30pm. That’s 2 hours not all day. Their shop is near the Empire cinema in Leicester Square.
