Covent Garden are doing things properly this year and London should feel proud. I knew the whole Christmas Carol theme was going to be a good idea, but it wasn’t until I went down to Covent Garden that I realised how serious the organisers were.
What they have produced is truly magical and yes it does take you back to being a kid, if not to how you exactly remember it. But certainly back to how you want to remember it.
I mean they even have Reindeer!
There’s so much going on for kids and adults, but the best day to go is Thursday because that’s when they have the choir singing traditional carols and songs. They also have the Real Food Market, that you just have to see to believe. The smells from the freshly cooked and baked foods, chestnuts roasting away, I tell you you’re not going to want to go away.
And did I mention they have Reindeer and I mean real Reindeer. The children absolutely love this because they can pet them and feed them, it’s such a lovely idea. Oh and what about the childrens stories by candlelight and the childrens workshops over the weekends.
All that I’ve mentioned would be enough to secure this event as being one of the highlights of the season. But to take it to another level they’re having something called Super Busking, when unannounced a pop group/artist will play live in the Plaza.
