In Part 1 I mentioned 3 of the larger London chain restaurants that are child friendly. One of the good things about these chain restaurants is the number of branches they have so it’s pretty easy to get to one.
The restaurants I’m mentioning in this part are strictly in central London and although two of them are chain restaurants they are very small chains.
However what they lack in size they more than make up for in their attitude to families.
For me these restaurants are leading the way in how restaurants should be dealing with families. Free meals and staff dedicated to helping children, what more do you want.
Belgo Centraal Restaurants
Why’s it’s good for kids: Children under 12years old eat for free plus they have table top games to play.
Belgo are a small chain of restaurants serving Belgian cuisine. What’s Belgian cuisine, well think mussels, fries and mayonnaise but done in a nice way. They do other dishes as well, but it’s the mussels that they’re famous for.
If that wasn’t enough to make them stand out they also have an extremely positive attitude to families dining out.
Children under 12 years old eat for free, which makes you wonder why more restaurants don’t do that. Plus they provide table games and quizzes to keep the children occupied. The choice on the menu isn’t as big as you would hope but it should still be enough to satisfy most children.
Smollensky’s Restaurants
Why it’s good for kids: Kids day on Saturday & Sunday lunchtimes with special entertainment.
Smollensky’s may only cater for children on the weekend but they certainly go to town. They have clowns or sometimes magicians to entertain them, a special menu and each child is given a goody bag and balloon.
This is a very nice venue in an easy to get to location. Also the child’s menu is split in two, one part for the under 7′s and another part for older children. Absolutely genius, it’s a nice touch which shows someone’s thinking about what they’re doing.
The Rainforest Cafe
Why it’s good for kids: Plenty for children to see to keep them occupied and they have a large menu.
The Rainforest Cafe is one of those restaurants you’d probably walk right past because it doesn’t look that special from the outside.
However once you get in you’ll see the place is made for kids. There’s plenty for them to look at and play with while waiting for the food to arrive. The staff are very accommodating and there’s definitely a nice friendly family atmosphere.
The food’s ok but nothing special; it’s an International menu with plenty to choose from so everyone should be happy.
You can tell how popular a restaurant is for families by the number of families inside, well the Rainforest Cafe is always full of families.
So there you have it, I hope you found the article useful and now you have 6 top child friendly restaurants to try when you’re here. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.
