This event was a huge hit last year, I’d never seen anything like it before in Hyde Park and this year they’re saying it’s going to be even bigger.
If you’ve never been before it’s like a giant Christmas playground with a massive big wheel, ice rink and loads of rides for kids and adults. There’s also a circus, although I think it’s going to be too short as the show’s only on for 40 minutes. Plus you have the German market with stalls selling food and traditional gifts.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Christmas Wonderland without a Father Christmas and I like the way that they don’t charge for children to see him (Hamleys take note, more on that in another post). The Grotto’s open from noon and is on a first come first served basis.
I tell you, you go here and you’ll really feel like Christmas is coming. Everyone’s in a good mood and the atmosphere is great. Obviously for the popular rides you’re going to be queuing and if you want to go to the circus, ride the big wheel or use the ice rink get your tickets ASAP.
The Winter Wonderland opens today, Saturday 21st and is on until Sunday 3rd January. The gates open at 10am until 10pm.
This is easily one of the highlights of the season so I hope you get a chance to enjoy it. It’s events like this that you could miss because they’re not always mentioned in guidebooks. With the EPok London Pack we try to put you in the loop so that you don’t miss out on fun events. For details about the Pack visit epok.com.
