If you only go and see one event this week make sure it’s the Lord Mayor’s Show.
This is one of those London events that can’t be beaten for history, pageantry and sheer fun. If you’ve come to London looking for a picture postcard moment you’ll find plenty at the Lord Mayor’s Show. The horses, the carriages, what people are wearing you’ll love it all.
I also have to say this is one of the best organised events in London. Usually with crowds this large it’s hard to get a good view, but there are lots of places along the route to watch the procession.
Plus after the procession free guided walks are being put on so that you can find out a little bit more about the history of London. I know a lot of people may be tired after the procession, but putting something like that on is brilliant.
Finally if that wasn’t enough, at 5pm you get the traditional fireworks display on the Thames to mark the start of the Lord Mayor’s term in office. Although this is a massive display, to get the best view of the fireworks you need to get as close to the river as you can. On the day this will be impossible if you don’t get there early.
Because there’s so much to take in, click Lord Mayor’s Show to get more details. The basic need to know details are, the show’s on Saturday 14th and starts at 11am, ends at 2.30pm and the fireworks start at 5pm.
If you go to the show I know you’ll enjoy it and to help you enjoy London even more visit epok.com. You’ll find details about our EPok London Pack and how it can save you money on eating out and going out.
