things to do in london, fireworks guy fawkes

This is one of the best fireworks displays in London

I Love London but one of the most annoying things that has been happening over the years, is the overkill of Health & Safety.

When I was growing up November 5th was a fantastic family night. Everyone got dressed up in warm clothes and you either went to a friend’s family house or to one of the public displays to watch the fireworks. There were loads of displays and always one within walking distance.

These days trying to find a display is hard enough and getting there has become a real pain. Health & Safety/Insurance issues has closed many of the displays down which is really sad.

Considering London is a major city with some huge parks you’d think there’d be some kind of display in one of them. Well there isn’t.  If you want to see a decent display I’m afraid you’ll have to travel quite a way. The one that I’d recommend is the one at Clapham Common because it’s right next to the underground station and it’s easy to get to as it’s straight on the Northern Line.

The display is very popular and so gets unbelievably crowded but it’s a lovely atmosphere and it’s free which is an added bonus. Things are scheduled to start at 7.30pm but get there around 5.30pm so that you avoid the rush at the stations.

With the EPok London Pack we try to let you in on events like this and also to save you money when you eat out. If you’d like details about the Pack simply visit epok.com.
