Learn about what wine goes with what cheese

The Southbank Centre not content with putting on very good music, art and theatre productions are starting to really take on London’s weekend markets.

They’ve held various special food market weekends throughout the year and on Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th they’re having a Cheese and Wine Festival.

Why I’m mentioning this event when I’ve not mentioned some of the others is because we all love a nice bit of cheese. However most of us, me included, have no idea of the right wine to have with a particular cheese. This event promises to change all of that.

Not only will there be stalls selling cheeses and wines, you’ll also be able to learn how to pick what wine for what cheese. There will be demonstrations and tastings and I for one can’t wait to get down there.

I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been to a restaurant and had a lovely bottle of wine that’s been great with the meal, but made an equally nice piece of cheese taste ordinary. If this event can point me in the right direction on what to order next time, it will be a couple of hours well spent.

The event takes place on the Southbank Centre square, it’s free and starts at 10am on Friday and ends at 6pm on Sunday.
