We’ll have the current things to do in April 2010 posted at the end of March.
Seb Coe will be signing his new book at Waterstones bookstore in Leadenhall Market near the Lloyds Building on 15th April 1pm. There are always queues when famous people do a signing at this store so get there early.
Another author in town doing a signing is Virginnia McKenna who will be at the Piccadilly Waterstones bookstore on Thursday 16th at 12.30pm
When you come to London what hits most people is the diverse cultures you see. And if you’re here on Saturday 18th and go to Trafalgar Square you’ll see the Dutch celebrating their national day (Queens Day). The Square becomes a sea of orange and if it’s as good as last year you’ll have loads of fun.
Also on Saturday, Somerset House have a shadow puppets workshop geared towards families with children of all ages. The activities last about half an hour and starts at 11am.
And talking about fun, try to catch a comedy show while you’re in London. This month we’ve been focusing on the Comedy Cafe and again they have a great line up this week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Head to St Martin-in-the-Fields at Trafalgar Square this week and you can hear classical concerts in the evenings and jazz on Wednesday evening. These are all ticket events that you need to get in advance.
If you can’t get a ticket for the Friday show at St Martin, then you could try the free music event at The National Portrait Gallery on Friday. It’s in it’s 3rd year now and is very popular so get there early. It starts at 6.30pm.
You’re bound to find yourself in one evening this week. so make it Monday and watch Henry VIII: Mind of a Tyrant on Channel 4 at 9pm. You’ll get a different side of Henry and it will make the exhibition at the Tower of London more interesting.
Also something to bear in mind if you do drive into London for an event, make sure your car’s in good working order. You don’t want to breakdown in London because it will spoil your day out. Read this article about getting your annual full car service and why you really don’t want to skip it.
You might also want to read this in case it rains while you’re here: Things to do in London if it’s raining.
